Chemical hoods protect the operator and the environment from toxic, corrosive or malodorous vapours. Two principles coexist, and the choice between them shapes the whole project.
The ducted fume cupboard keeps the work chamber under negative pressure and exhausts air to the outside. It is the safest solution, with no saturation limit, but it requires an exhaust network, a wall penetration, an extract fan and make-up air. Our BCS and T models comply with EN 14175.
The recirculating enclosure purifies air through activated carbon and returns it to the room. It runs from a standard power socket, with no building work — but the carbon saturates and its replacement must be monitored. Our C-PURE, MINIPURE, UNIVERS MAV and AD models fall under NF X 15-211.
The deciding criterion is the nature of the products. For CMR substances, large quantities or intensive use, ducted extraction is required. For occasional handling of common solvents, recirculation is perfectly suitable.
