Before calling, these six situations cover most of what we are asked. Each answer indicates what you can handle yourself and what requires a visit.
Note the exact message displayed: a service reminder, a check due date, a code, or a velocity alarm. The response is not the same in each case.
If it is a maintenance due reminder, the unit is working normally: it is an hour counter that has reached its term. The reset procedure is shown in the videos below.
If it is a velocity or airflow alarm, do not continue working: protection is no longer assured. Call the service department on +33 1 48 17 85 12.
There is no universal interval: it depends on your reference framework and the criticality of the application. In practice, annual testing is the baseline for a cabinet in routine use.
Additional testing is required after any event: absolute filter change, fan replacement, relocation of the unit, or modification of room airflow.
An upcoming audit is also good reason to bring testing forward: a three-month-old report is better than a thirteen-month-old one.
There is no fixed interval. It depends on room cleanliness, running hours and the products handled — from one site to another, the range is fivefold.
Measured clogging is what decides. On our units with automatic ECM control, velocity remains constant despite clogging: you will see nothing coming, which is precisely why periodic testing is essential.
The pre-filter, by contrast, is changed much more often. A clogged pre-filter accelerates the clogging of the absolute filter, which costs ten times as much.
Most often this indicates a filter that is clogging: the control system compensates by increasing fan speed, and the noise level rises progressively.
A noise that appears suddenly, or a whistling sound, points instead to the fan itself or to a loose component.
In either case, have the noise level measured at the next test: it is one of the measurements we carry out as standard.
Physically yes, but the unit must be requalified after the move. The airflow of the new room, its position relative to doors, supply diffusers and traffic routes all affect airflow behaviour.
A cabinet placed facing a swing door or beneath an air conditioning diffuser can lose compliance without any alarm being triggered.
Let us know in advance: we will set out the installation constraints before the cabinet is moved.
Yes, and it is mandatory wherever the cabinet has been used to handle pathogens. No technician will work on it without this step.
We carry out decontamination if you are unable to, together with filter recovery for destruction, with a certificate supplied.
That certificate is the document your health and safety manager will ask for: keep it in the equipment file.

Hot-wire anemometer. Velocity mapping, verification of airflow uniformity, measurement of inflow velocity, determination of airflow rates and air change rate.
Laser particle counter. Determination of the cleanliness class of an area, identification of leaks by scanning filters and contaminated zones. ISO 14644 and GMP references.
Photometer and aerosol generator, Emery 3004. Verification of filter integrity by leak detection on the filter medium and the seal plane. ISO 14644 and EN 12469 references.

Decontamination is mandatory before any work on a cabinet used for handling pathogens. We also handle filter recovery for destruction, with a certificate supplied — a document your health and safety manager will ask for.
